The Wayuu are an indigenous people living in the Guajira peninsular. They were famous for the fact that they were never completely subjugated by the Spanish conquerors. Now they are now well known internationally for the beauty and colour of their crochet bags, which take up to 20 days to make and incorporate patterns which express the world view of the Wayuu communities.
